Jorge Diaz Padilla, a Mexican consultant with a remarkable career, will take over the presidency of the “International Federation of Consulting Engineers” (FIDIC), during the general assembly of this organization that will be celebrated on September 7, 2005 in Beijing, China.
The FIDIC based in Geneva, Switzerland, represents the organized consultancy of 74 countries and more than 30,000 privately owned consulting companies. Consultancy, also known as the “knowledge industry ”, employs over a million people worldwide and revenue from its services ascends to more than $100 billion dollars per year.
Since its foundation in 1913, the FIDIC has had 26 presidents including; 17 from Europe, 3 from the United States, 3 from Australia and one from New Zealand, South Africa and Canada respectively. Now, for the first time in its history, the FIDIC will have a Latin American president.
The “Mexican Chamber of Consulting Companies” member of FIDIC since 1995, emphasizes the importance, to Mexico and Latin America, that one of its members precedes this organization during the next two years.

Jorge Díaz Padilla was born in Mexico City in 1946 and has been working in the consulting field since 1974. With a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and an engineering master’s degree both from UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México), he received the rank of doctor from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1974.
Dr. Díaz Padilla is the president of “Systec”, a Mexican consulting firm, he founded in 1986, specialized in business solutions implementation, project management and technical audits.
